Paweł Zawadzki
A pianist and pedagogue from Wrocław, laureate and juror of numerous piano competitions, titular professor. In 1999, he graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Wrocław, studying under Professor Grzegorz Kurzyński. Paweł Zawadzki teaches
piano classes at the Karol Szymanowski General Primary and Secondary Music School and at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. Since 2020, he has served as Head of the Piano Department.
He has performed on the stages of philharmonic halls, playing piano concertos under the baton of conductors such as Tadeusz Strugała, Marek Pijarowski, Jacek Kaspszyk, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Szymon Makowski, Wojciech Rodek, Eugene Tzigane, Giancarlo de Lorenzo, Kai Baumann, Lee Hong-Jin, Alexei Vasiliev, Massimiliano Caldi, and Juan Cantarell. He has given concerts in Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Turkey, Finland, Denmark, Scotland, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Belarus, South Korea, and Australia.
The pianist has made numerous recordings for radio and television, and in the field of phonography, he has released CDs with works by Fryderyk Chopin and Franz Liszt, recorded for the Selene label. As a consultant for the Centre for Artistic Education, he conducts piano courses for students of music schools. He is also a lecturer at master piano courses, including those in Krynica-Zdrój, Opole, and Łańcut. Paweł Zawadzki carries out extensive pedagogical activity. His students and pupils have won dozens of prizes at prestigious international and national piano competitions. They are also laureates of competitions aimed at strengthening Poland’s positive image in the world, such as the Young Promoter of Poland award, and recipients of scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the “Young Poland” scholarship programme, and the Mayor of Wrocław.
In 2011, the pianist initiated the establishment of the Lower Silesian Fryderyk Chopin Society in Wrocław (he served as president of the Society from 2011 to 2020). Paweł Zawadzki’s artistic and pedagogical activities have been recognized with numerous awards from the Director of the Centre for Artistic Education in Warsaw for his outstanding contribution to the development of artistic education in Poland. He has been honoured with the decoration “Meritorious for Polish Culture.” In 2022, for his outstanding achievements in the field of pedagogy and art, he received the prestigious Annual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the field of Artistic Education. By decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit (2016) and the Gold Cross of Merit (2024).
